Moving On...Frank at SXSW

So, now that most of the major award shows are over and everyone has come to terms with the winners and "not-winners" it is time to move on.  More films are coming our way and we need to continue enjoying Michael's work.

First, congrats to all the awards that "12 Years A Slave" won.  By now, cinephiles already know, so no use repeating.  We're happy for Steve, Michael, Lupita, Chiwetel, and the rest of the cast and crew.  Much deserved.  Michael appeared with his sister at the Independent Spirit Awards and the Oscars with his mother.  

Second, the film is out on DVD, just in time for the excitement of the awards to continue.  We haven't seen it so we cannot comment, yet.

Third, one of the last awards is out and your vote counts.  MTV Movie Awards, where you can vote for best picture, best actor, best actress, and best villain, where "12 Years A Slave" are involved.  Michael has been nominated as best villain and from what we've heard, he's really ugly onscreen.

Fourth, Michael is still working on MacBeth in Scotland and England.

Lastly, "Frank" had a showing at SXSW.  It had been screen at Palm Springs Film Festival and Sundance last year.  Here is the official trailer:

The reviews are good and Michael's performance has been described as ''truly shines in a role that keeps his well-known mug off screen and hidden behind the fake head." Review  It is not a film for everyone, but if you like quirkiness, odd music, and great performances, "Frank" is a film to be watched.  We'll be looking forward to a release in our area.

12 Years A Slave:

Won Best Film and Chiwetel won for Best Actor.  Congrats to the winners!

Michael, Best Supporting Actor nominee did not win.   We were disappointed in not seeing or hearing his win, but that's ok.  Michael's best is still yet to come.  He's still a top wanted actor and as long as he keeps bringing in the fans, awards doesn't mean much.  Awards are only made from a few, minority groups telling people what they thought was good.  Awards are subjective, which is our favorite word of the time.  Awards are the opinions of few.  It doesn't weigh in the hearts and minds of those fans who enjoy their favorites' works.  It doesn't necessarily pay the bills.  A lot of great actors have made a career without ever getting an award.  And there is the other side.  Many who do win, never get another big opportunity.  There are theories about the awards and the statistics that can show that it really doesn't matter.  It's nice to be recognized, but it doesn't always give you the work you want. 

Instead, lets bask in the picturesque offerings from the show:

So, who really cares if Michael wins an award?  Fans know he is worth more than an award that is forgotten at the next award show. 

From a Long Hiatus

Hello fans!

Sorry for the years of slacking.  Not on purpose.  Too much happening. 

Our original blog hosting site closed last year and we had to clean and archive stuff.  But no worries, things have been moving to the forum. 

We are slowing coming back. 

And Michael's career is full steam ahead.

Right now, he's in Scotland filming "Macbeth."

Time to pull out another school book to reacquaint ourselves with the story.

He just finished a western in New Zealand called, "Slow West."

He's also been nominated in all the award shows for best supporting actor.  He's too busy to stop.

Look forward to "X-men 2" this year.

DVDs out now are "The Counselor" and "Prometheus".

Add Another Award!

Someone's going to need a bigger shelf for all those awards he's receiving for his performance!

Michael Fassbender won the London Film Critics Circle award for Best British Actor in a supporting role in Fish Tank.  Whew, that was a long title.

Michael did appear at the award's show, to pick up his award.  Backstage, he took time to answer press questions while humbly, yet proudly, holding his award:

More New York Nights

A very short post for today.  More and more photos of Michael attending the New York Film Critics Circle, have made their way through to the masses.  With big names showing up like Clooney and Gandolfino, Michael was in good company and the photographers were ready.  Also in town and at the event was director Steve McQueen and actor Christoph Waltz.

Thoughts of Clooney and Fassbender in a movie sounds good.  Michael will be working soon, with director Steven Soderbergh, who worked with Clooney in the Ocean's Trilogy.

Reshoots and Recognition

A few weeks ago, it was reported that the film, Jonah Hex, was going to be back doing reshoots.  Not sure what brought that up, but it was reported to be happening.

So then word has come out that early in 2010 reshoots will be taking place, seemingly as Cinematical reports here to create some whole new flashback scenes and also other newly created material set in the time of the story. Source. 

Yesterday, it was reported that Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender would be included in a schedule of reshoots at the end of the month.  The original film location was in New Orleans, but the reshoots will be filmed in L.A.

Some have called the idea of reshoots a bad thing for the movie because it shows that there could be a problem with the movie.  From the Jonah Hex panel at Comic-con last summer, it had sound like both Michael and Megan didn't have a lot of scenes, so fans should be happy if either one of them are in more scenes.  Maybe they'll have some on-the-set photos available...would be nice.  A trailer out soon would also be a nice touch.  It could help all the bad press.  Just sayin' guys.  

The reshoots come just in time to be in town for the awards' season.  Michael is included in the best ensemble awards for Inglourious Basterds for the Golden Globes airing Jan. 17, 2010.
